Update from our awesome assembly team:

Our latest school assembly the Science of Sound (sponsored by Watchung PTA) took place last month. The musician Caryn Lin introduced the electric violin to our school community by playing original pieces using "looping" and many original sound effects. The amazing performance was highly interactive and involved many of our students in Lin's creative process of music making.

From Ms. Polizzano:

Holiday time is upon us. Please join us at Watchung in spreading the gift of giving. Each year MEA members from every school in the district join in this effort. At Watchung, we call it the Make A Wish Come True Program. Please feel free to take a snowperson tag off the Holiday Bulletin Board located in the front hallway directly across from the office. Choose any tag you like and donate the gifts of your choice by bringing them back unwrapped by December 9th or wrapped by December 13th. If you are unable to get a tag because they are all taken or you simply would like to participate another way, please purchase one of the Bonus Gifts described on the bulletin board. Please remember to attach your snowperson gift tag to the gifts. All gifts should be returned to Debra Polizzano at Watchung Elementary School.

If you would like to participate but cannot make it to the building to pick up a tag, please contact the office by phone or email ( We can pull a tag for you and send it home with your child in a sealed envelope.

Thank you so much and Happy Holidays to everyone.

The birthday book program is looking for help with donations of new books. Are you in the publishing industry (or know someone who is) and might be able to get discounted new books for the program? If so, please contact Jen Bonnell ( or Joanna Desmond-Stein ( Also when purchasing books for gifts this holidays, consider buying an extra book for the birthday book program!
