Welcome to the Charles H. Bullock School PTA! Our mission is to advocate for and support CHB’s students, teachers, and families through organizing and funding programs and events. Working together, we enrich our children’s school experience and our community in countless ways. Please know that your children appreciate and benefit tremendously from your participation; we can help you find an opportunity to fit your schedule and we would welcome any amount of help!

Our mission is even more important during these times of physical separation and uncertainty.
We are all learning to navigate remote learning, engage in conversations around racism and social change, and figure out how to keep our families safe and healthy in the midst of a pandemic. As a PTA we want to ensure that no one in our CHB community feels alone in any of this. We will make every effort to connect virtually until we can meet in person and to build relationships despite our distance.

We keep our families informed of happenings at CHB in many ways. You will receive two weekly updates — one from the PTA and the other from Principal Kuwabara.

Yubbler is a supplies program that offers brand name products, customized ordering, teacher-approved supply lists, and most of all CHB gets half the profits! We’ve added items that kids can use in the classroom and at home including corkboard, headphones, outlet protectors, andmasks. These are just some of the reasons we love using Yubbler. BULLOCK BUDDIES:

We want to be your buddy! If you are an incoming family to Kindergarten or older children, please reach out. Bullock Buddies connects new Bullock families with more experienced ones- we offer answers to questions, set up playdates, and are here to support you in small or bigger ways. If you are a new CHB family, please complete this form and we will be in touch soon!

And, we need older, wiser CHB families! If you are a family who wishes to be a buddy to new families, please contact Rachel (mom to Cora, 2nd grade) by signing up via the same form as for new families.

In particular, we need rising 1st-grade families to support our new Kindergarteners.

REMOTE LEARNING COMMITTEE:

Not surprisingly, we need to address remote learning, and all that goes with it at this critical time. Please input your contact details via this form if you are interested in participating in this committee. We are looking for families and teachers who are committed to the ongoing discussion, advocacy, and action around remote learning and support. We know that this is a topic important to all. Please join this committee only if you have time to devote to active discussion and action. This committee will communicate regularly with the larger school community, so everyone will have information on what is being discussed. However, again, we are looking for committee members ready to commit to greater participation.

EQUITY COMMITTEE:

We need to keep the momentum going and prioritize our work on equity, anti-racism, and inclusion at CHB. Please input your contact details via this form if you are interested in participating in this committee. which will be charged with holding all at CHB and the PTA accountable for ensuring an antiracist perspective in our work and everyday actions. We are looking for committee members, co-chairs, and liaisons to the PTA Council’s Committee on Equity, Anti-Racism, and the Opportunity Gap. This committee will also be tasked with thinking about intersections between equity and various other PTA committees (including but not limited to the Remote Learning Committee).

Special Education Parent Advisory Council:

Know Your Rights: Heading Back to School During the Pandemic
In the Spring, many students made less than expected academic progress due in large part to the distance learning plans implemented by many New Jersey school districts. Mary Frances Palisano and Debra Clifford, Team Leaders of the Gibbons Child Advocacy Team, will discuss strategies and provide tips to help parents advocate for their struggling learners in the Covid-19 reality of remote instruction. Now is the time to get prepared to avoid further learning gaps.
