Extending Well Wishes:
Please join me in extending a huge SHOUT-OUT to Piedad Gutiérrez!!!!! Congratulations on your retirement. You have been in education for 42 years, here at Hillside for 17 years. You will be dearly missed. Le deseamos todo lo mejor!
Mr. Adamo and I, along with Mr. Sedita, Supervisor of World Languages & ESL, have been actively interviewing for Ms. Gutierrez’s replacement. We anticipate having an update for families upon our return from break.
Hillside CARES (SATp committee):
In preparation for the holiday season Hillside CARES (SATp committee) provided gifts and meals to 88 Hillside families. Thank you all for your dedication to our school community, we’re in this together. A special thanks to Kari Brantner, Lisa Frankle, Amanda Hart, and Amanda Senior. And I would like to extend an above and beyond appreciation for Stacey Best, Ruthelyn Elkin, Phyllis Lowenthal, Simone Hayes, Mara Mazur, Zoe LaSalandra, Allison Silverstein, Jennifer Adubato, Colleen DOugherty, and Dana Rizzo.
Kwanzaa Festival – 12/19 – 12/31:
Celebrate culture, community and creative expression at NJPAC’s annual Kwanzaa Festival and Marketplace!
This year’s virtual festival runs through December 31, featuring online programs inspired by the seven principles of Kwanzaa (unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith). Don’t miss out on any of the fun! Tune in for a panel discussion about storytelling with the elders, social justice or Black theater. Take an online class to explore West African dance, stepping, Zumba, drumming, capoeira, Bebop Graffiti Arts or Afrobeats. Or stop by the community marketplace for some online shopping.

Make A Wish:
Hillside Cares “Make-a-Wish” 2020 has officially wrapped! Neither the pandemic nor Snowmaggedon could keep us down!
A big big big thank you to everyone who helped make wishes come true:
Stacey Best, Mara Mazur, Wayne Luhrs, Daryl Washington, Chair Zoe La Salandra, SATP, Hillside PTA, Allison Silverstein, Colleen Dougherty, Dana Rizzo, Hillside staff, Kimya Nilsen, Yarnia, The Montclair Knitting circle and the entire Hillside community!
Be well and Happy Holidays!
