A Note from the Principal’s Desk – 1.22.2021
Dear Hillside Community,
I hope this message finds you and your families in good health. By now you should have received Superintendent Dr. Pond’s Weekly Community Message No. 6, in which we were informed the Montclair Public Schools are unable to properly staff schools for in-person, hybrid teaching and learning on January 25, 2021. Elementary schools will not open to students as planned. All students in all grades will remain fully remote during this time, continuing to follow their original remote schedules. As a reminder, this is the schedule we were following prior to the week of January 18th (schedule attached for your reference). Students will participate in live, synchronous teaching and learning until personnel and staffing issues are resolved.
Facilities Update from Buildings and Grounds:
Upon entering the building, classrooms will be ready through mechanical ventilation, air purification, open windows and reduced class sizes. As per the most recent Ventilation Assessment Chart from Buildings and Grounds, the following rooms have been identified to have air purifiers and will have windows open six inches: 21, 23, 25, 125, 129, 130, 204, 225, and 229. We will continue to update the community as repairs are made to the ventilation systems.
The calendars in Genesis for Feb-June have not been updated yet for any of the schools. As long as the current rotation group (Mounties/Bulldogs/All Days/Virtual) for your child is indicated, then parents should disregard the calendar for now.
If a parent who selected remote now wishes to switch to hybrid in-person, then they must notify myself and Mrs. Mazur by February 26, 2021. Your child can then participate in hybrid instruction at the start of Cycle 3.
1/25/21-1/29/21 B Week
If you have not picked up your child’s Volume 2 math books please email Mrs. Mazur firstname.lastname@example.org to set up a pick up time.
Spanish Teacher Update
We have recommended a candidate for hire and hope to communicate the board’s approval in the near future. There will be no live instruction until the week of February 1st. There will be no asynchronous work posted next week.
