A Note from the Principal’s Desk – 10.15.2021
Dear Hillside Parents/Caregivers:
I hope this message finds you well. Mr. Adamo and I are in classrooms everyday observing highly engaged students, it really is a fantastic experience! We are still very much in an adjustment phase, a space I anticipate we will be in for months to come. Students are adjusting to their schedules, classroom and school expectations, and the workload. We will continue to nurture their ability to build stamina, with regard to reading and writing and independent work time.
One potential issue that is beginning to percolate is the abundance of pop-it fidget toys being brought to school. We are well versed in the fact that pop-it fidget toys provide sensory input for students’ task attention, however not all students have this need. Many students play with this object because it’s merely a toy. I am asking for your help, please curb your child from bringing “toys” to school. We cannot be responsible for misplaced toys, which is becoming an all too common thing.

Message from Ms. Scott (School Counselor)
Hello Hillside Families! I have a lot to say today LOL so please keep reading for important information.
“Lunch Bunch” groups will begin in October. Lunch bunch groups will take place during your child’s lunch/recess period so your child will miss their recess once per 6-day cycle or, for 3rd graders, one day per week. For example, a 4th or 5th grade student might have “Lunch Bunch” every 1st A Day or 3rd B Day, whereas a 3rd grader might have it every Wednesday. If you think your child would benefit from participating in a “Lunch Bunch” group please complete the In Need of Counseling Survey so I will have a better idea of their needs.
In honor of National Bullying Prevention Month, the first “Topic Tuesday” was about Bullying. Here is a recording of the information provided. Topic Tuesday- Bullying
