The Hillside Explorers Program is an after-school enrichment program that is organized and run by the PTA. The mission of Explorers is to give students an exciting opportunity to learn outside of the classroom; to try new activities and experiences, to further our Magnet theme to help students find their talents and activities they enjoy the most.
HILLSIDE EXPLORERS – SPRING 2023 – PLEASE READ!!
The Hillside Explorers PTA volunteers are pleased to present our Spring session, featuring some exciting new classes and some returning favorites!
Classes begin May 1, 2023 and go for 6 weeks. Please pay attention to the run dates! All classes will run from 3:50pm – 4:50pm.
Registration opens Thurs, April 20 at 8:00PM
Registration closes Thurs, April 27 at 8:00PM
Please note that due to rising instructor and supplies costs, the prices of some classes have increased. Please consider donating to our scholarship fund to help keep costs down!

PLEASE NOTE: Classes will show as SOLD OUT on the registration page until registration officially opens. When registration opens, all classes will become available.
***SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION: Hillside is able to offer a limited number of scholarship spots. Priority is based on when requests are received. To request a scholarship, send an email to Explorers@hillsidepta.org and include your name, email and phone number, your child’s name, grade, homeroom teacher, whether they are enrolled in YMCA aftercare, and list your top three choices for classes. Confirmations for approved classes will be sent by email.
SCHOLARSHIP REQUESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY MONDAY, APRIL 24TH
SCHOLARSHIP DONATION INFORMATION: PLEASE consider making a donation to our scholarship program to ensure that all students who want to take an Explorers class can do so. Last school year the Explorers Program awarded 42 scholarships over the course of our 3 cycles of programming. We CANNOT do this without your help. Scholarship donations can be made on the Cheddar Up registration page. Thank you for your support!!!
***TO REQUEST AN AIDE/PARAPROFESSIONAL: If your child has a disability and requires a one-to-one or shared aide/paraprofessional to participate in the Explorers program, the PTA will now provide one. This person can be the student’s existing paraprofessional, and if that person is unavailable, the Explorers team will work with Hillside Administration to try to find someone else. Please note that we are only able to provide a para for a student for one class per session, at this time. Paras for additional Explorers classes will be at the expense of the family/ caregiver. To request an aide/paraprofessional, send an email to Explorers@HillsidePTA.org and include your name, email and phone number, your child’s name, grade, homeroom teacher, and name of your child’s existing aide/paraprofessional ****
AIDE/PARA REQUESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY MONDAY, APRIL 24TH
CODE OF CONDUCT: The Hillside Explorers program believes that every participating student deserves a safe place to learn and enjoy the various classes offered. To ensure behavior expectations are clear, all caregivers registering a student for an Explorers class will be required to review a code of conduct. The Explorers Code of Conduct can be viewed here.
Additionally, all Explorers instructors will have access to the Onsite Administrator, to assist in any concerns or conflicts in the classroom.
