PTA Announcements:

Junior/Senior parent night: Thank you to the Junior/Senior parents who came out to mingle last Thursday at Just Jake’s. We hope to hold more grade-specific parent events in the future, so let us know your ideas. Our Doublegood popcorn fundraiser was a great success, with the Junior and Senior classes each raising over $1000 for their proms. We will share more prom details in an upcoming newsletter.
Welcome to our new Secretary: Thank you to Selma Avdicevic for stepping up to fill the vacant Secretary role on the PTA Executive Board.

 

TEN DAYS AND COUNTING!

There are just 10 days left to get your tickets and :

The MHS PTA will hold our first-ever Casino Night at the Montclair Art Museum on Friday, February 16th, 7-11 pm.

This adults-only fundraiser promises to be an event not to be missed. Join us for delicious food and drinks, a DJ and dancing, while you roll the dice with lady luck. There will be both cash and non-cash prizes for our high rollers! Buy your own tickets (or sponsor a ticket for a staff member) here before they sell out!

 

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to make this night a success! Please sign up at the Sign up Genius here if you’d like to help out.

 

WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING? All funds raised will support indoor and outdoor MHS beautification projects, the Montclair Scholarship Fund, and the PTA (which supports teacher grants, student events like Homecoming, Freshmen-Sophomore Dance, Fun Fridays, Teacher Appreciation event, and so much more!)

 

WHAT ARE THE PRIZES? 

We can’t have a Casino Night without prizes for high rollers! Prizes range from an XBox Series X, PS5, Amazon gift cards ranging in value from $100-$500, Restaurant gift cards for Faubourg and DeNovo…just to name a few.

In Case You Missed It! (ICYMI)

  • Marking Period 2 report cards will be released this Friday, Feb 9
  • There is an SATp (School Action Team – it is open to all parents/caregivers!) meeting on Thursday, Feb 8 at 6:30 pm via Zoom. The MHS Counseling Department will be presenting about the upcoming scheduling process for next year’s classes. MHS SATp Zoom Meeting

  • Senior families: The MHS Career Internship Program is scheduled to begin on May 20, 2024. A mandatory senior meeting is set for March 13, 2024, at 9 am in the auditorium. All students must attend this meeting to receive information and necessary paperwork for the CIP. The MHS Class of 2024 CIP timeline is linked. Please review it carefully and bring any questions to the senior meeting or see Mrs. Alsina during lunch in the LGI or Main Cafeteria. Upcoming Events:

Trying to get in community service hours? Read on!

 

Our next Fun Friday event on Friday, February 23 from 2:45 – 3:45 pm will feature a community service fair with local non-profit organizations that want our students’ help and can offer volunteer hours. Please let your students know to attend.

Seniors – some local non-profits will also have opportunities for Seniors wishing to complete their Career Internship Program (CIP/Senior Option) with them.

There will be lots of opportunities for events, volunteer work, and service to our community. Have ideas?
