Our Community Service Fair was a hit! We had over 30 local non-profit organizations turn out to tell our students about their efforts, and to enlist some new high school volunteers. Thank you to volunteers Eileen Lundberg, John Sullivan, Mary Sue Youn, Amy Uhlfelder, Donna Montague, and Samantha Youn for planning and helping run the event. One volunteer organization commented to the PTA how much they loved the student’s energy and enthusiam, and that they would happily come back every week to talk to such smart and giving young people! If your student missed the event, we are compiling a list of contact information for all organizations who attended that we will share out with the community very soon.
Nominating Committee: The PTA Executive Board will need to fill several positions for the 2024-25 school year as officers’ terms of service expire. We need to gather a Nominating Committee to start the process of choosing the officer slate. YOU can be a crucial voice in shaping the PTA. No experience needed. Please reach out to ptapres@mhs-pta.org if you are interested in serving on this committee. |
In Case You Missed It! (ICYMI)
TONIGHT!!!! BOE/PTAC Budget 101 Session: The Board of Education, in coordination with the PTA Council, will be holding a public meeting on February 27th at 7pm at the George Inness Annex to answer questions about the Budget for the upcoming school year. We are asking the community to submit questions in advance in order to provide them to the Business Administrator by Monday February 26th at noon. Please submit your questions here.
African American Achievement Dinner: MHS’s Civics and Government Institute is hosting their 19th annual African American Achievement Dinner on Wednesday, February 28 from 6-8:30 pm in the George Inness Annex Atrium. This event this year will honor Ms. Harriett Parker. MHS Media Specialist, and Ms. Aminah Toler of Montclair Mutual Aid. The event is open to the public and tickets can be purchased here. All funds raised support the Petal Robertson Achievement Scholarship, which is given to a student of color graduating from the Civics and Government Institute. |
Join the PTA! We would love to have you join us — parents, teachers/staff, students, and community members are all welcome! There will be lots of opportunities for events, volunteer work, and service to our community. Have ideas? Feel free to email us at ptapres@mhs-pta.org and click the link at the bottom of this page to donate to our events and pay a small annual membership fee. Remember that all donations to the MHS PTA are tax-deductible. Please consider us for your year-end giving.
