PTA Announcements:

Teacher Appreciation Week: The PTA hosted a hot breakfast buffet to kick off teacher appreciation week this Monday, and decorated with flowers and thank you banners around the buildings. Thank you to Pomptonian Foods for helping us make breakfast happen! As we wrap up the week, remember that it is never too late to send an email or note of appreciation to our hard working teachers and staff!

MHS Campus Beautification Day, Part 2: Unfortunately, we will need to POSTPONE our scheduled part 2 of the campus beautification project (originally scheduled for Saturday May 11). The new date will be Saturday, May 18, with more details to come.

PTA Executive Board Election Slate:

The MHS PTA Nominating Committee (Trente Miller, June Raegner, Amy Uhlfelder) is pleased to announce the slate for the open Executive Board positions (2024 – 2026 term). Please note that based on recommendations from the Exec Board, the Nominating Committee recommends eliminating the VP of Fundraising position and adding a VP of Events position.

Elections for the above vacancies will be voted on at the next PTA meeting: June 5, 2024. If you would like to self-nominate for an open position, you may contact info@mhs-pta.org before June 1, 2024 so your name can be added to the ballot.

With that in mind, here is our slate:

  • Lewis B Jenkins III – VP-at-Large

College Essay Writing Workshop!

Please save the date of May 22, 2024 at 7 pm for a workshop on Demystifying the College Essay process. Rising Seniors, Rising Juniors, and their parents are invited to learn more about what’s involved, what’s expected, and how to get started. This workshop features college essay coach Deb Levy and MHS ELA teachers Anne Baney and Ashley Dorian and is brought to you by the Office of School Counseling and the MHS PTA. Freshman/Sophomore Dance – Spring Fling!

It’s time for our freshmen and sophomores to boogie! Our Spring Fling dance will be held on Friday, June 7th from 7-10 pm in the Main Gym, Midland Ave entrance. Tickets will be $10 and will go on sale May 20th.  Our theme will be Mounties in Bloom. We still need both adult and older student volunteers. Sign up here:

In Case You Missed It! (ICYMI)

  • AP exams started on Monday, May 6 and will continue through Friday May 17. Good luck to all our students taking AP exams.
  • Attention Juniors! 2024-2025 Senior Mentor Applications are available. Please complete the Google Form in your school email. Applications are due by Wednesday, May 22nd!
  • Senior Events – SO MANY SENIOR EVENTS!!!:
    • Senior Prom will be held on Tuesday, May 28.
    • Senior Prom Tickets will be on sale 5/10, 5/13, and 5/15 after school in the LGI.  Tickets are $105 each.  NO TICKETS will be sold after 5/17. Please make sure that you filled out your code of conduct which is located on the Class of 2024 Google classroom.  Seniors who are bringing non-MHS students OR MHS underclassmen should make sure that their dates have also completed the applicable code of conduct.  NO TICKETS will be sold to anyone without a completed code of conduct.
    • Project Graduation tickets have been on sale all week – LAST DAY for PG Bus tickets is tomorrow 5/10!
    • Seniors who will be leaving MHS after May 17 for the Career Internship Program (aka Senior Option) – please make sure all paperwork is filed appropriately. Check your email for more details.

Adopt a Mountie!

On behalf of The Montclair Mutual Aid: We are initiating the ‘Adopt A Mountie’ Dorm Kits for the second year in a row.

Last year we distributed 16 dorm kits to college bound MHS seniors. This year we plan to do the same. Here is the application for MHS seniors to apply for these dorm kits. It includes the information needed to submit the application.

Deadline for application submissions is Friday, June 2, 2023. Questions regarding the application can be submitted to mhscollegedormkit@gmail.com.
