With college enrollment decisions, state and national testing, scheduling for next year, Senior Option, end of year club/team banquets, summer facilities renovation planning…May is a super busy month! Thank you to so many faculty and staff members who have gone above and beyond to help our students and community. Our principal Mr. Freeman and asst. principal Mr. Clark even found time for an impressive run as Team “Mighty Mounties” for the MFEE Amazing Fundrace 5.0 this Sunday, finishing in the top 10 teams. The race raised over $95k for the Montclair Public Schools! Check out the team busting a move in the dance challenge above – and thank a teacher and administrator for their hard work! PTA Executive Board Election Slate: At our May community PTA meeting, the nominating committee presented their slate of officers for the 2024-2025 school year. Elections will be held on Wednesday, June 5 via Zoom. A special edition of the newsletter with bios of all nominated officers, will be sent this week. At that meeting, we will also adopt the MHS PTA Standing Rules, which can be reviewed here.
College Essay Writing Workshop! Please save the date of May 22, 2024 at 7 pm for a workshop on Demystifying the College Essay process. Rising Seniors, Rising Juniors, and their parents are invited to learn more about what’s involved, what’s expected, and how to get started. This workshop features college essay coach Deb Levy and MHS ELA teachers Anne Baney and Ashley Dorian and is brought to you by the Office of School Counseling and the MHS PTA. It will take place in the MHS LGI room. Please use the Chestnut St. main entrance to enter the building. Our Spring Fling dance will be held on Friday, June 7th from 7-10 pm in the Main Gym, Midland Ave entrance. Tickets will be $10 and will go on sale May 20th. Our theme will be Mounties in Bloom. Upcoming Events: College Admissions Panel:Please join the MHS Office of School Counseling for our Annual College Admissions Panel where college admissions representatives will discuss the admissions process and so much more! Previous topics include: dual enrollment vs AP credits, types of applications, test-optional status, how to address disabilities on applications, support services offered, affirmative action and admissions from the college perspective. The panel will take place virtually on May 30, 2024, at 6:30 P.M. (ET) via Zoom*. Please use the form below to provide suggested questions for our representatives. Note: we may not get to all questions due to time constraints. On behalf of The Montclair Mutual Aid: We are initiating the ‘Adopt A Mountie’ Dorm Kits for the second year in a row. Last year we distributed 16 dorm kits to college bound MHS seniors. This year we plan to do the same. Here is the application for MHS seniors to apply for these dorm kits. It includes the information needed to submit the application.
