The Nishuane Explorers program is the PTA’s after school enrichment (ASE) program. Explorers is an opportunity for kids to have new experiences, make new friends and have fun! Launched and led entirely by PTA volunteers, Explorers is committed to discovery, experimentation and investigation.
Three sessions are offered throughout the school year (Fall, Winter, Spring) and classes are open for grades K-2 unless otherwise indicated. Please email us at nishuaneexplorers@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Schedule
Classes meet weekly at Nishuane School. Morning classes are 8:10 – 9:10 a.m. and afternoon classes are 3:45 – 4:45 p.m. Class dates are subject to change; please refer to your weekly emails for updates. In the event of school closure due to inclement weather or instructor emergency/absence, a makeup date will be added and registered families will be notified via email. There will be no makeup for individual students due to absences or tardiness.
Registration
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. As most classes fill up very quickly, we encourage you to review the registration site prior to the start of the registration period.
A student is not registered for a class until purchase of the class has been completed in our enrollment site and payment submitted. All classes are subject to cancellation due to under-enrollment, or other reasons as deemed necessary and at the discretion of the Explorers team. Payment by credit card or e-check is preferred; if paying by cash, money order or check, payment must be received prior to the start of classes. We cannot guarantee or hold spaces in any class for anyone who has not registered and paid for a class in full.
- Add/Drop – Add/drop are allowed during registration period. When registration closes, there will be no refunds for dropping.
- Costs – Tuition per class varies. The registration website contains schedule and price details for the current session. All class materials are provided at no additional charge.
Scholarships
The PTA is committed to sponsoring an Explorers class for anyone in need of a scholarship. There is a limit of one free class per child per session. Please email Ms. Williamson (awilliamson@montclair.k12.nj.us) to request a scholarship code. To have the best chance of getting into the class of your choice, scholarship requests should be submitted before registration opens.
Paraprofessional Support
For children who require paraprofessional support during school, and/or are in self-contained classrooms, Explorers can provide paras for enrichment classes. Please notify the Explorers team as soon as possible if you desire this assistance.
