FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: What’s Mayfair?
A: Spreading across the Nishuane playing field, playground and parking lot, this fun-packed family festival offers a range of activities for kids age 2+ including arts and crafts, bouncy houses and slides, rides, carnival games, community booths, food concessions and a silent auction. This is Nishuane’s biggest annual fundraiser and a Montclair favorite for over 30 years.
Q: When is this year’s Mayfair?
A: Mayfair 2024 is Saturday, May 11th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Nishuane Elementary School, 32 Cedar Ave.
Q: Does the event still go on if it rains?
A: Mayfair is rain or shine. As of May 10 the forecast says no rain, but due to field conditions the train will be replaced by a shark ride that’s okay for little ones.
Q: How much is admission and where can I purchase?
A: Admission is $12 per child 2 and older (under 2 is free) or $30 for a family bundle of 3 or more kids. Adults are free. Admission wristbands will be distributed at the entrance, on Cedar between High and Pleasant. Online sales are now closed. The only option is to purchase at the event entrance. Cash and credit card accepted.
Q: What’s included in the admission price?
A: Admission includes access to the event, access to all inflatables and rides, entertainment and performances, ability to take part in the silent auction, arts and crafts and table-top games. Admission does not include concessions, carnival trailer games, face-painting and the dunk tank, which require the purchase of tickets that can be spent as money during the event. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance, at the spiritwear table, and at concessions.

Q: Is this a drop-off event?
A: No, all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Q: Can I still attend even if I’m not a Nishuane parent or caregiver?
A: Absolutely. The event is open to children and caregivers in the community.
Q: Will my kid(s) get messy?
A: Probably, so dress accordingly. The arts and crafts activities can involve paints and markers, and consider the usual carnival fun — face-painting, frozen treats, etc.
Q: What’s new this year?
Mayfair 2024 will offer the first Mayfair Pie-Eating Contest! Nishuane teachers, staff members, and parents/caregivers are eligible to compete in this delicious showdown, presented by Pure Love Pies of East Orange. The contest is scheduled for around 1:30 p.m. in the school parking lot.
Also new this year, Mud Clay Studio will offer a pottery-making craft on site. The cost is 8 tickets (equal to $8) per project.
Q: Who are the event sponsors?
This year’s Mayfair is generously supported by our partners East Coast Advanced Plastic Surgery, Papasikos Orthodontics, POPS Therapeutics, and Alliance Orthopedics.
