Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: When is this year’s MayFair and how much does it cost?
A: MayFair 2023 is Saturday, May 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Nishuane Elementary School, 32 Cedar Ave. Tickets cost $12 per child 2 and over. Adults and kids under 2 are free.
Q: What’s included in the event?
A: Spreading across the Nishuane playing field, playground and parking lot, the day offers a range of activities for kids age 2+ including arts and crafts, bouncy houses and slides, rides, carnival games, community booths, food concessions and a silent auction. Live performances include School of Rock, kids’ entertainer Ron Albanese, magic show by ISLANDMAGIC, and royalty training with Princess Elsa!
This year, OneNish! will also be holding a clothing swap at the event. Email Nicole Chalfoun at nchalfoun@gmail.com for more details about the swap.
Q: How can I buy tickets for this year’s MayFair?
A: Click on this link to pre-pay for admission until May 12. You can also pay for admission at the entrance on the day of the event, using cash or credit card.
Q: What is included in the admission price?
A: Each attendee receives a wristband that allows access to rides, inflatables, entertainment, arts and crafts, and the clothing swap. An additional purchase of tickets is required for food, carnival games, a dunk tank and face-painting. Nishuane spirit wear will also be available for purchase.
Q: Wait, did you say dunk tank?
A: Yes! This year you can try your luck at dunking beloved Nish-ers Mr. Mullins, Mr. Supel, Mrs. Alvarez, Mr. Eder or Mr. Sedita.
Q: Can I still attend even if I’m not a Nishuane parent or caregiver?
A: Absolutely. The event is open to children and caregivers in the community.
Q: Does the event still go on if it rains?
A: MayFair is rain or shine. If there is heavy rain, activities will be held indoors.
Q: Will my kid(s) get messy?
A: Probably, so dress accordingly. The arts and crafts activity involves Sharpie pens and oil pastels, and consider the usual carnival fun — face-painting, frozen treats, etc.
Q: Can I help out at the event?
A: Absolutely. MayFair relies on volunteers to truly be a success, so click here if you are part of the Nish community and can lend a hand. Volunteers receive free tickets for the dunk tank, carnival games, face painting or concessions.
Q: Who are the event sponsors?
This year’s MayFair is generously supported by our primary sponsor, East Coast Advanced Plastic Surgery, as well as partners Papasikos Orthodontics, POPS Therapeutics, and Alliance Orthopedics.
