FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: What’s Mayfair?
A: Spreading across the Nishuane playing field, playground and parking lot, this fun-packed family festival offers a range of activities for kids age 2+ including arts and crafts, bouncy houses and slides, rides, carnival games, community booths, food, dunk tank, and a silent auction. This is Nishuane’s biggest annual fundraiser and a Montclair favorite for over 30 years.
Q: When is this year’s Mayfair?
A: Mayfair 2025 is scheduled for Saturday, May 10th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Nishuane Elementary School, 32 Cedar Ave.
Q: Does the event still go on if it rains?
A: Mayfair is rain or shine. In the event of extreme conditions the event might be modified and moved indoors.
Q: How much is admission and where can I purchase?
A: Admission is $14 per child age 2 and older, and $36 for a family bundle of three or more children. Adults are free, and children under 2 are free. Click on this link to grab your tickets before 5 p.m. May 9! You also can purchase admission at the entrance on Cedar Ave., near the front of the school on the playground side. There will be separate lines for those who pre-purchased and those purchasing at the event.
Q: What’s included in the admission price?
A: Admission includes access to the event, access to all inflatables and rides, entertainment and performances, ability to take part in the silent auction, arts and crafts and table-top games. Admission does not include concessions, carnival trailer games, face-painting and the dunk tank, which require the purchase of tickets that can be spent as money during the event. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance and at the spiritwear table.
Q: What’s on the agenda this year?
A: We have our 2nd Annual Pie-Eating Contest, where teachers face off against parents/caregivers, around 2 p.m. in the school parking lot. At the main stage will be a drumming performance from MaDLOM, a dance class with Ciaran and Katerine (from aftercare!) and DJ Ron Albanese, a Mayfair favorite.
Also check out the silent auction, featuring tickets to Red Bulls and Gotham FC soccer games with VIP access, summer camps and classes, a weekend retreat for four and more.
And new this year we have the Dark Room Truck, a custom-built photo booth on wheels! Inside the truck you will find a prop room, private photo area, and printing station. Get ready to take some amazing photos to remember the day.
Q. Did you say there’s a dunk tank?
A: Yes! This year we have on the hot seat: Mr. Mullins from 11 to 11:45 a.m.; Mr. Eder from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Dr. Sedita from 12:30-12:45 p.m.; Mr. Eder again from 12:45-1:45 p.m.; Ms. Martin from 2:30-3:15 p.m.; and Ms. DiNapoli from 3:15-4 p.m.
Q: Can I help out at the event?
A: We’re so glad you asked! Mayfair relies on volunteers to truly be a success, so please consider signing up for an hourly shift on the day of the event. Lend a little time and spend the rest enjoying the fun. Click on this link to sign up.
Q: Is this a drop-off event?
A: No, all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Q: Can I still attend even if I’m not a Nishuane parent or caregiver?
A: Absolutely. The event is open to children and caregivers in the community.
Q: Will my kid(s) get messy?
A: Probably, so dress accordingly. The arts & crafts activities can involve paints and markers, and consider the usual carnival fun — face-painting, frozen treats, etc.
Q: Who are the event sponsors?
A: We’d like to thank this year’s sponsors: Papasikos Orthodontics, POPS Therapeutics, Alliance Orthopedics, and Sandbar Swimwear. We so appreciate the support.
