It’s (somehow?!) almost Thanksgiving. And in this season of extra reflection and gratitude, we wanted to say thank you. Northeast really is a special place — in no small part because of all you do to help make it that way.

We’ll be taking a break next week to spend time with family and loved ones. Look for our next Pulse on Sunday, December 8. A couple things to get on your radar in the meantime below.

Giving Tuesday is Tuesday, December 3rd. Please consider donating to the Northeast PTA. As you know, your support not only funds fun events for our community, but also essential educational resources like Northeast assemblies, buses for field trips, and classroom reading materials.

We’re a 501(c)(3), so your donations are tax-deductible—if you do donate, please ask your company if they do corporate matching. Many do. Here’s how to donate:

Please help support Northeast families through this year’s Wrap and Roll holiday initiative. Here’s how it works:

1. Sign up by clicking the button below.
2. Choose 1, 2, 3, or more gifts to purchase.
3. Place a label or sticky note on each gift you purchase with the following info:
   • Family #
   • Girl or Boy
   • Age
4. Deliver the unwrapped and labeled gifts to Danielle Kupperman’s attention no later than December 11th.

We’ll wrap the gifts together on December 16th to share the holiday spirit with our community.

Nurse Christie is asking parents to donate clothing for her to loan to our kids when needed. She says: “Students need a change of clothing during the school day for a multitude of reasons — milk spills, accidents, muddy playgrounds. I include a washable sticker on the clothing that says “Property of Northeast School” and give each child a “please return this clothing” note so stock can be rotated. I take clothing home to wash on high heat between students.”

• Donate to Northeast when you shop! Sign up here for Shop To Give, an easy way to support Northeast just by shopping as you normally do. It takes < 3 minutes to sign up and then you can automatically donate when you shop at over 25,000 local and national participating merchants.

• Celebrate with a book! The PTA is proud to partner with Watchung Booksellers to gift a book to every Northeast student during their birthday month. If your child has a birthday this month, email their name, homeroom teacher, and grade to northeastPTAmontclair@gmail.com. We’ll respond with a gift certificate and details on how to get your book.

• Hop on the Bike Bus every Friday! Bike Bus is a weekly group bike ride to all the Montclair elementary schools. Bike Bus happens Friday mornings and aims to make it joyful, fun, and safe to bike to school together. Just like taking the regular bus, Northeast families ride on this route and schedule and “hop on” along the way. To learn more, join the WhatsApp group and visit MontclairBikeBus.org.
