2021-22 Standing Committees Summary

 

Communications Committee: The Communications Committee seeks to build and strengthen trust in the Montclair school system for all stakeholders by fostering better and more effective communication and information sharing among families, schools, and the district administration, and enhancing stakeholders’ ability to “navigate” the system.

 

Community Building Committee: The Community Building Committee seeks to enhance community engagement and provide information sharing and support among parents, students and teachers through event programming.

 

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee: The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee seeks to identify and eradicate practices, policies, infrastructure and programming within the district and within the PTAs that result in harm, inequity or exclusion among students or families due to race, gender, sexuality, language, religion, disability status or socioeconomic status. The Committee also seeks to support the development and sustenance of a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture across the Montclair Public Schools community.

 

Education and Special Education Committee: The Education and Special Education Committee seeks to help the PTAs and the community of PTAs and the community of Montclair Public Schools families and stakeholders better understand the district’s instructional programs, practices and curricula, and helps to facilitate parents in supporting their child’s education through at home support for learning as well as through child advocacy on matters of curriculum and instruction.

 

Finance and Infrastructure Committee: The Finance and Infrastructure Committee seeks to help the PTAs and the community of Montclair Public Schools families and stakeholders better understand the processes and factors that impact how the district develops and manages its operating and capital budgets, and helps to facilitate parent advocacy on district finance and infrastructure matters.

 

Health and Safety Committee: The Health and Safety Committee seeks to work with the PTA Council, the school PTAs, the district and community partners to help create an environment that prioritizes and supports student health, wellness and safety, enabling students to reach their full potential both academically and personally.

 

Technology Committee: The Technology Committee seeks to provide tools, documentation and support needed by the PTA Council and the individual school PTAs so that they can make the best possible use of available technological tools in the satisfaction of their objectives.
