A note from the Montclair PTA Council:

The Montclair PTA Council is deeply saddened about the passing of Dr. Ponds. We offer our deepest condolences to his wife and children. We remember his dedication to our children and community, and his willingness to partner with those who shared his passion for education and creating opportunities for all students to achieve. We at PTAC remain committed to continuing to work to do the same. May his contributions to the lives he touched be an enduring legacy.

We continue to mourn the passing of Dr. Ponds who worked tirelessly to serve the students and families of the Montclair Public Schools. He will live forever in our minds and hearts and his legacy will continue. Please see below for details on the services honoring his life and legacy.

 

Tribute Service for Dr. Jonathan Ponds

St. Paul’s Baptist Church

119 Elm St. Montclair, NJ

Friday, July 19

11 AM – 12:15 PM

Parking will be available at Charles H. Bullock School parking lot. The District will be providing two buses at Bullock at approximately 10:30 AM to transport people to the services on a first come, first serve basis.

 

Following the service there will be a private repast for the family.

 

Dr. Ponds’ final resting place will be in Alabama.

 

At the family’s request, please send expressions of sympathy to Central Office/Superintendent’s Office, 22 Valley Road, Montclair.
