“Accepting Imperfection” is the theme for Reflections this year.
By submitting an artwork to the National PTA Reflections Program, you accept and agree to be bound by the official rules for participation as well as the entry requirements for the specific arts category and division. Any violation of these rules may, at PTA’s discretion, result in disqualification. All decisions of the reviewers regarding this program are final and binding in all respects.
1. ELIGIBILITY. Students must participate through a local PTA. Students may develop their entry inside or outside of school.
2. ARTS CATEGORIES. There are six categories. Click on any category to view the specific rules for that category:
Students may submit entries to one or more arts categories, but an artwork may only be entered in one category. All entries must be inspired by the 2024-2025 Reflections theme, which is “Accepting Imperfection”
3. HOW TO ENTER:
Complete a Reflections Student Entry Form
Physical artworks in the Visual Arts category can be submitted in several ways, once students have completed the Reflections Entry Form:
1) Give to your school’s Reflections Coordinator (Elizabeth Stotler – epw307@gmail.com)
2) Place your submission form and artwork (be sure to write name, school, and artwork title on the back) in the Reflections Box in the Main Office.
Literature entries are submitted by attaching a PDF and emailing to epw307@gmail.com
For Dance Choreography, Music Composition, and Film Production entries,
email the audio or video recording of the entry (specific rules apply for each category) to reflections@montclairpta.org.

4. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS. Only new pieces of artwork inspired by the current year’s theme may be submitted. Each entry must be the original work of one student only. An adult may not assist in the creation or execution of a student’s work, except in the Special Artist Division. The work itself must be the creative product of one student only. Each entry must have a title and all entries must include an artist statement. The artist statement communicates what inspired the work, how it relates to the theme, and the content of the work. The statement must include at least 10 words and not exceed 100 words. Use of copyrighted material is prohibited. Plagiarized entries will be disqualified. Use PowerPoint templates is prohibited.
5. FINALIST SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION. Entries are reviewed at local, regional, state, and national levels. Entries will be reviewed primarily on how well the student uses their artistic vision portray the theme, originality, and creativity.
6. OWNERSHIP AND LICENSE. Ownership in any submission shall remain the property of the student, but entry into this program constitutes entrant’s irrevocable permission and consent that PTA may display, copy, reproduce, enhance, print, sublicense, publish, distribute, and create derivative works for PTA purposes. PTA is not responsible for lost or damaged entries. Submission of entry into the PTA Reflections program constitutes acceptance of all rules and conditions.

THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
November 18-22, 2024
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we are collecting NON-PERISHABLE food items to be donated to The Human Needs Food Pantry on behalf of Watchung School SATp Cares Committee and the PTA.
Please drop off donations by Friday, November 22 at the Garden Street front door entrance. There will be a collection bin at the top of the stairs. All donations must be store bought, packaged and sealed. No homemade goods will be accepted.

Join us for an evening of hands-on, engaging activities at Watchung’s Family STEAM Night! This year’s theme is SPACE!
We’ll have stations run by our STEAM teacher Ms. Thorp, Technology teacher Ms. Magrath and Principal Krenn, along with the Montclair Learning Center (slime-making) and an astronomy presentation in the auditorium (Montclair State University’s Astronomy Department). Students and their families will make Galaxy Goo (slime) and visit the Hydroponic Lab in Watchung’s Greenhouse to learn about how astronauts grow food in space!
It will run from 6-7:30pm on Thursday November 14th at Watchung School, starting in the Auditorium. To help us plan our stations and ensure we have enough supplies, please Register HERE with the number of family members and the grades of your Watchung students that will attend. Thank you!

Foods should be packed in small or large quanties (example small loaf of bread and/or package of sliced (2-3 slices) bread. Cookies should be packed in sets of 6 or 2. Store bought/bakery items are also welcome! Everything needs to be individually wrapped.
*All food must be labeled with ingredients*
Food can be dropped off at the bake sale table on Tuesday starting at 8am or I’m happy to pick up food on Monday, November 4th.

The Watchung After School Enrichment program is an opportunity for kids to have new experiences, make new friends and have fun! Launched and led entirely by PTA volunteers, ASE is committed to discovery, experimentation, and expanding horizons.

Registration
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. As most classes fill up very quickly, we encourage you to review the registration site prior to the start of the registration period. All classes will be posted on the Watchung GiveBacks site and will go live at 7pm
A student is not registered for a class until purchase of the class has been completed in our enrollment site and payment submitted. All classes are subject to cancellation due to under-enrollment, or other reasons as deemed necessary and at the discretion of the ASE team.
